The BRHA presents Grief Walker
The public is invited to a movie night on January 26 at 7 p.m. at the Burntwood Community Health Resource Centre. Grief Walker is a powerful documentary on befriending grief, palliative care and the end of life. This movie will leave you with deeper acceptance and understanding. For those who are interested, there will be an open discussion to follow the movie. Free admission, refreshments and popcorn are available.
The regular monthly meeting of the Burntwood Regional Health Authority's Board of Directors will be held on Thursday, January 28 in Room 141/143 of the BRHA's administration building. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and the Board invites the public to attend. The BRHA welcomes feedback from residents of the region. If anyone would like to make a presentation to the Board, a written request, outlining a summary of your presentation must be made to the Board Chair. The presentation will be scheduled for a future Board meeting. A presentation by the BRHA's Long Term and Continuing Care Quality Improvement Team will be made during the meeting at 1 p.m.
The Burntwood Regional Health Authority encourages residents within the Burntwood Region to receive the Pandemic H1N1 and Seasonal Flu vaccines. To make an appointment to receive your vaccinations, please call the BRHA's Public Health Team at 677-5350. Read more about H1N1 here.
The BRHA's Nutritional Services Department will be offering the Food Safe Level 1 Course to anyone who is interested. The course is a one day training session held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room located at the BRHA Administration Building. Upcoming Schedule for 2010 is January 06th, April 23rd, August 23rd & December 13th. The course deals with the proper procedures in food handling and is a must for all personnel working in the food services industry.
The cost to register is $35 per person and includes a workbook and a copy of the Food Safety Code of Practice Book. Registration and fees must be made prior to the date of the course you wish to attend if not the cost at the door will be $45 (note all fees are non-refundable). Upon passing an exam, participants will receive a nationally recognized certificate.
The Burntwood Regional Health Authority is removing all magazines, toys, and books from all its waiting areas and exam rooms to reduce the spread of seasonal flu and Pandemic H1N1. Read more here.
